Family members, friends, and members of the Lakeville community are mourning the tragic loss of Jalen J. Tavares, 19, of Lakeville, whose life was cut short in a fatal shooting in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood on Monday evening.
According to the Boston Police Department, the incident occurred on June 22, 2026, at approximately 7:38 p.m. Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) responded to reports of a person shot in the area of 115 Milton Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located Jalen J. Tavares near the rear of 115 Milton Avenue, in the area of 6 Selden Street, suffering from a gunshot wound. Boston EMS personnel responded to the scene and attempted to provide assistance. Despite those efforts, Jalen was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The heartbreaking loss has left those who knew and loved him struggling to come to terms with an unimaginable tragedy. At just 19 years old, Jalen’s passing has created a void that will be deeply felt by his family, friends, classmates, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
